Something more than excited for the his move to Barcelona appeared Ilkay Gundogan.
In his farewell message to Manchester City the German midfielder explained that the feelings he had from a young age for the “Blaugrana” did not allow another way if he left England.
He mentioned specifically:
“I think Pep was hoping we would leave City together, as we came. I am sure, however, that understands my decision.
It certainly helps that I go to the team that grew up. May we meet again soon in a final Champions League.
If I left, there was only one group in the world for which it would make sense: Or Barcelona or nothing. Since I was a little kid i was dreaming to wear this shirt at some point in my life.
I am convinced that I have a few more years in me top level and I just want to help Barcelona get back to where they deserve to be.
I will meet again with my good friend, Take it and I’m excited to play under yet another coach who I adore for a long time.
