Reorganization in the scouting department of Panathinaikos with additional budget – Papadimitriou’s plan

by

One of the very important departments in Panathinaikos that needs to be upgraded and indeed to a large extent is that of scouting. An element necessary for the better functioning of the club in the search for transfer targets and of course for the continued development of the team at a high level. Now, this will happen and very soon.

THE Giannis Papadimitriou asked him Yannis Alafuzosin the discussions the two have had since the beginning of the collaboration, additional budget to reorganize the scouting department. The response from the owner of the green PAE was positive. Alafouzos accepted the suggestion of the new technical director of the “trefoil” and told him that he will have everything he asks for the creation of a strong, modern and high-level scouting department that will bring multiple profits to Panathinaikos immediately, but also in the long term.

The structure of the new scouting department

In the next period, the movements will proceed for the reorganization of the scouting department and further staffing (recruits will be made for daily work in the department). A single space will be created in Koropi for the people working in the department with modern search engines and equipment. Already, data has been acquired that also helps in the field of analysis of the first group. Everything will end up with Yiannis Papadimitriou, while Makis Livathinos will remain the chief scout. All this will be built from September with a horizon of first results from next summer.

Changes to Panathinaikos B’ and connection with academy

One of the first things that Yiannis Papadimitriou did when he took over as technical director was to change the entire plan regarding both the academy and Panathinaikos II . What will be done is to link the second team with the academy. With a uniform training program, with trainers, an ergophysiologist and of course the same way of playing.

Already, Papadimitriou has informed everyone. Sotiris Antoniou remains coach of Panathinaikos II, having been informed of the new direction, while Makis Livathinos will be in charge. Vangelis Samios continues as technical director of the academy, while Andreas Drenova will be the coach of the K19.

One of the new goals is to drop the average age in the second group and to be staffed mainly by K19 children, but also other young talents (up to 18 years old) from Greece and abroad. Both the second team and the academy enter into a philosophy with a connection between them.

The goal is for all of this to have results with a normal progression and flow and to produce one footballer every two years for the first team.

Stopper immediately and movements after Dnipro

Regarding transfer moves, Panathinaikos is close to acquiring one of the two central defenders it wants. Once that happens, the next boost will come after the matches with Dnipro. The preparatory work will be done, but much will also depend on whether the “clover” will continue in Europe. The targets are given and concern another stopper and a right back. The goal of Giannis Papdimitriou and the team as a whole is for Panathinaikos to have 22 first-line players at the end of the summer.
