Former player with outstanding passages through Corinthians, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Vitória-BA, Edilson Capetinha is no longer hired by RedeTV!. He had been off the air since the end of Galera Esporte Clube, a sports attraction last shown at the beginning of the year, in March.

The company was unable to take advantage of it in its schedule and opted for dismissal. Edilson’s agreement ended at the end of last June. Wanted, RedeTV! confirmed the information in a statement: “The contract with the presenter was not renewed. The channel’s doors are open for future projects”.

It is the second time that Edilson has been dismissed from an open broadcaster. In early 2022, he left Band after arguing with a live broadcaster colleague. The former player also participated, as a commentator, in programs on the extinct Fox Sports, such as Jogo Sagrado and Expediente Futebol.

Edilson’s departure is linked to the end of Galera Esporte Clube, a sports program on RedeTV! bankrolled by a bookmaker. Designed in 2021, Galera Esporte Clube would feature Flávia Noronha, who left TV Fama to lead the sport, and youtuber Júlio Cocielo. However, the presenter left the station, which delayed the debut of the attraction.

The program premiered in August 2021. Initially shown on Wednesdays at 11:30 pm, the attraction had former soccer player Letícia Esteves and journalist Lucas Strabko, Cartolouco, who led reports and interviews. In May of last year, the sports program was transferred to Monday nights, at 10:30 pm, and started to be presented by André Vasco, Fernanda Keulla and former player Amaral.

In the same period, Cartolouco left the program’s team to participate in Record’s Power Couple Brasil. In July, former player Edilson Capetinha was hired to replace Amaral.
