Double qualification to the final of the European Under-23 Athletics Championships, which ends today (16/7) in Espoo, Finland!
THE Polyniki Emmanouilidou and Yannis Kariophyllis they qualified for the 200m final. Emmanuilidou finished second in the second semi-final series of the competition with a performance of 23.61 and got one of the direct “tickets” for the afternoon (17:40) final. It is worth noting that the first three athletes from each of the two semi-final series and the two best times qualified for the final. The 20-year-old champion has this year’s individual record of 22.85, while, for history, the fastest in the second semi-final series was the German Talea Prepens with 23.51.
In the corresponding men’s competition, Kariophyllis was ranked third in the second semi-final series with 21.29 and he also got a direct “ticket” for the afternoon (17:55) final. It is worth noting that the 20-year-old champion, who has this year’s individual record of 20.84, scored the same performance as Switzerland’s Timothee Mumendaaler, as a result of which both of them got direct qualification for the final. Fastest in the second semi-final series of the competition was the Dutchman Raphael Bouzou with 21.07.
In the meantime, Mr Nikos Stamoulis he “opened” today’s program for the Greek “colors”, as he participated in the 10,000 meters, however he gave up.
