DC United puts Brigadier Foudas on “ice” until further notice! The team does not specify the reason why the Greek striker was left out of the mission, as well as his teammate Nigel Roberta. It cites, among other things, “possible violations of league policy,” while asserting that the club said it “immediately reported the matter to the League Office, at which point MLS began gathering all available information.”
“Athletic” claims in its report that Brigadier Fountas racially attacked his teammate in training. With Roberta hitting the Greek striker, when he realized what he said to him!
DC United declined to comment further on the allegations, however according to the same publication this is not the first time Foundas has been accused of such an incident. This is because last season there was a complaint against him by an Inter Miami footballer that he had been racially attacked by Fouda during the match, with the organizing authority accepting this claim but not punishing the Greek striker since the evidence it had in its hands was insufficient.
DC United tonight announced that Taxi Fountas & Nigel Robertha have been placed on “administrative leave.” They didn’t say why.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Fountas allegedly directed a racial slur at Robertha, who then assaulted him.
