by

Atromitos officially announced the acquisition of the Italian goalkeeper, Gabriele Marchezani, signing a cooperation contract for one year.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper has played in the last two years in Trento, counting a total of 52 entries in the third category. He started his career from its Academies Rome and spent a year in the first team, without official participation.

His Serie A debut came with Spal, where he stayed for two years and established himself at Gubbio with 38 appearances in the third division. He competed in Novara for one year, while before Trento he was in Potenza.

It is worth noting that this is the son of the veteran legend of Lazio, Luca Marchegiani.

The announcement in detail:

“Sixth addition to our team roster ahead of the 2023/24 season.

PAE Atromitos announces the acquisition of Gabriele Marchezani on a free transfer, signing a one-year contract.

The Italian, Gabriele Marchezani (3/6/1996), plays as a goalkeeper and took his first football steps from the Academies of Roma and in 2016, at the age of 20, he made his professional debut with the Spal shirt in Serie B.

In 2018 he moved to Gubbio for whom he made 39 appearances in one season (2018/19), since then continuing his career at Novara, for whom he once again became the main goalkeeper making 24 appearances until January 2020. Thanks to his performance, he continued his career at Ascoli on loan.

From 2021 until the end of the 2022/23 season he played in Trento with which he made a total of 52 appearances.

After the formal completion of the agreement, Gabriele Marchezani, who chose and took the number “1”, made his first statements on atromitosfc.gr:

“I am very – very happy, very proud to be in a historic Greek team like Atromitos. It is something very important for me that I was presented with such an opportunity as this to come to the Greek league.

I want to thank the management, the Technical Director, the coach, Chris Coleman and the goalkeeping coach, Marco Garofalo, for their trust. Now, my personal goal is to do them justice and let us all do the best we can for Atromitos.

It’s the first time I’ll compete outside of Italy and I’m really excited to be in Greece, since I know it very well as a country, since I’ve visited it many times and I have relatives who are Greek.”

I managed to see the facilities here in Mazarakis and it really is very important for a player to work in such an environment and in a team that gives him the opportunity to think only about football and his individual improvement.

Before agreeing with Atromitos, I personally did my research and saw that it is a historic year for our team, having completed 100 years of life, and for this reason I wish that we have a very strong season for our fans, who are waiting for them in the stadium.”
