Everything else is unimportant… I am ashamed as a Croat”… With this title, Mr Frane Voulasjournalist of the major Croatian website “sportske.jutarnji.hr” publishes a moving article on the occasion of the murder of the 29-year-old AEK fan, Michalis Katsouri, by those of Dinamo Zagreb.
Among other things, the Croatian journalist says that football has no meaning anymore, after a young man lost his life. “Mihalis will not see an AEK match again, he will not start a family, he will not give his mother grandchildren…”he emphasizes at one point in his article.
To conclude that the culprits must be severely punished, but also to go in front of the mother of the deceased fan of the “yellow and black” and answer her “why” they did this and deprived her of her son!

This is one of the saddest days in the history of Croatian football, but also much more widely. Greece is shrouded in black and Croatia is blushing with shame because of the “Bad Blue Boys”. All these kinds of things happened in our football. In Desinac, the worst was avoided last year, many times it was a hair’s breadth away from happening. At the end of the day, even a football player was killed in our professional football, Hrvoje Custic died as a result of hitting his head on a wall during a HNL match.
It was a combination of unfortunate circumstances, inadequate infrastructure… But in this case, a human life was taken and extinguished by a conscious, planned act of violence. No one was accidentally found 1500 kilometers away from Zagreb. That may not have been the ultimate goal of this senseless act of violence, but they killed a man. Under the ‘jurisdiction’ of football, clubs and fans, or any other nebulae. The bottom of the barrel.
Hell… football, everything. What is the importance of Dinamo, Hajduk, AEK, PAOK… What does it matter now? The man is dead. YOUNG MAN. Everything else became completely irrelevant after that. I am ashamed as a Croat. I’m ashamed as a sports fan, regardless if it’s Dinamo and not Hajduk. And as a man, I am truly disgusted.
And now what’s next? Are they changing the entire leadership of the Greek police who were caught sleeping despite being warned about everything by their colleagues from neighboring countries, including the Croats? It’s late, nothing will change now. When will the match be played? Who cares, they killed a man. Will Dynamo be punished, maybe even expelled from Europe? It won’t happen, but even if it does, what does it matter now, that man was killed. Well, everyone is reacting, from the clubs, the Federation, to the police and the Government… But now all that is completely irrelevant. Michalis Katsouris is leaving on a high, he will never see an AEK match again, he will not have a family, he will not give his mother grandchildren…
Strictly punish the culprits, the murderer(s) and the hooligans who, in addition to Michalis, also killed football. For starters, let’s take them in front of a crying family, a mother who had a heart attack after losing her son. Make him explain just one thing. Why; But all those of a similar mindset should ask themselves the same question before the next stupid thing they intend to do in the name of football.”
