Bohorides: “We will be ready and determined to give our best at the World Cup”

THE National leaves us tomorrow (15/8, 13:00) for Abu Dhabi, where it will carry out the final stage of its preparation for the Mundobasket, facing USA and Germany in two very strong friendlies.

THE Lefteris Bohorides he has been participating in the effort of the “blue and white” since the first day and made statements about how he has lived in recent weeks, stressing that every game with the National Team is special and important.

In detail what he said:



“Today we can say that the basic stage is over, although in such a preparation every day is important, so the continuation has a lot to give us. A pretty good job has been done, we are ready for the final part and then I believe we will be ready for the World.

I think that so far we have seen what we would like, even if in 2-3 weeks for each team there are difficulties, the time is short. What is certain is that there is a team with members determined to enter and give their best in the official.

The friendlies were strong, they showed everything, strengths and weaknesses or are there more in…waiting from the team?

“Always these games are very helpful in drawing conclusions, after all, that’s what they are for. But when the World Cup starts, that’s when the real potential of all the teams will be seen. The games will all be in the format of a final, the way the system is, we’ll see different things and we’re all looking forward to … seeing them.”.

The coach has said this phrase many times, about… a series of final games, have you started to discuss in the team about the World Cup, system, opponents?

“Until now, we only looked at our own team, even in the friendlies we cared about what kind of basketball we would play, if we would apply what we did in training, we didn’t care so much about the opponents. But the days are approaching, it is both logical and necessary that the World Cup comes into mind, the opponents, both for the staff who have been working on it for a long time, and for the players to start getting into the mood”.

“Global” sounds a bit more… grandiose, in your mind does it mean something special or do you not separate a match when it is with the National Team?

“No, every tournament, every game with the National Team is special and important. For me personally, the World Cup is something I very much want to experience, as for what it means for each athlete to be in the National team, how great an honor it is, I think there is no point in repeating it, the greatest. So I enjoy every day of this journey and I hope it goes as well as possible”.
