Anastasakis made it to the hammer throw final – Franzeskakis out

The “present” in the hammer throw final at World Athletics Championship of Budapest will be given by Michalis Anastasakis.

The Greek athlete managed to throw the hammer at 75.76 meters in his third and last attempt (there was an invalid and 73.43 m. before) and thus finished in 8th place in the qualifying round, with Christos Franceskakis on the other hand to stay out, as he finished 14th with a best performance of 74.05m.

He was also left out Kostas Zaltos, with a best throw of 69.98m. The final will be held on Sunday (20/8) at 18:50.

In the first race of the day for the Greek athletes, o Alexander Papamichael he was ranked 38th in the 20km walk, with a time of 1:24.26, which is his record this year.

The weather caused disruption to the race, after it started two hours late due to a storm. The gold was won by the Spanish Alvaro Martin (1:17.32), the silver by the Swedish Perseus Carlstrom (1:17.39) and the bronze by the Brazilian Chao Bonfim (1:17.47).
