Spain-England: A great match against the background of the top of the world!

by

A great event is coming to an end!

THE Spain and the England face each other in its final Women’s World Cup (20/8, 13:00, ANT1) with the aim of reaching the top of the disruptive event, for the first time in their history!

The English women they won the recent European Championship, but have never reached a World Cup final, except for the third step of the podium in 2015. On the other hand, Roja have not even reached the top four until now, while they have not won in women’s football no major tournament in its history!

The journeys of the two teams until the final were, to say the least, disruptive. Spain started the tournament strongly, winning it Costa Rica and the Zambia 3-0 and 5-0 respectively, but then suffered a surprise defeat to Japan in their final group game. Thus, she finished second, facing her in the knockouts Switzerland.

There, the Spanish women returned to good form, dismantling their opponents 5-1. They then faced the Netherlands, beating the team that had flown out of the USA 2-1, securing a place in the final!

THE Englandon the other hand, had a comfortable run through the group, winning Haiti, Denmark and China. However, in the “16” stage of the competition, they found it dark against Nigeria, winning on penalties. The same happened against Colombia, where they fell behind for the first time in the tournament. But they fought back and won 2-1 and then outclassed the hosts Australia to reach the final.

Now, the two teams will face each other to become the fourth country to conquer the institution that started in 1991. The England she is more experienced in such big matches and has been in such situations in recent years, however Spain she was more… convincing during the tournament, with the English women in danger of being eliminated several times, especially against weak teams. However, it’s a final so anything can happen…

Possible lineups:

Spain: Cole – Batlet, Paredes, Contina, Carmona – Bonmati, Abeleira, Hermoso – Redodo, Caldeday, Gondaleth

England: Earps – Carter, Bright, Greenwood – Bronze, Stanway, Walsh, Daley, Toon – Russo, Hebb
