Mavros, Romario and Miller’s “13”: Demis explains why he had “11” on his shirt!

From his… “13”. Gerd Miller which he could not have, in the legendary Thomas Mavro of AEK and Romario. The reason he ended up wearing the jersey with the number “11” explained the Demis Nikolaidis via his new instagram video.

“I imagined that because I was AEK and Thomas Mavros was in AEK. This one. It’s not a knowledge I have though, I’m just speculating. I 100% remember cursing Romario because he said he would score three goals in Eindhoven-AEK and he scored three goals. He wore ”11”. Since then I have been in love with Romario. Not because he scored three goals for us, but because he was an incredible footballer.

Speaking recently with the assistant coach, Nikos Papadopoulos, who I had at Ethnikos Alexandroupolis and he told me that I wanted “13”. I remember it being my lucky number, but I looked to see why the ”13”. So I remembered that my dad as a pro-German in football, because we were immigrants, he liked Miller. Miller wore ”13” in the World Cup and maybe I was influenced by that, I had to wear ”13”. But then he told me that the numbers in the lineup were up to “11” and that if I wanted “13” I would have to stay on the bench. So I got ”11”“, said Demis characteristically.
