Greece secured a presence at the 2024 pre-Olympic tournament!

With an improved image in the second part through its defense, the Hellas came back from -15 and defeated 83-74 New Zealandfor qualification to the “16” of the World Cup.

Ensuring “continuity” in the organization was not the only important development for the National Team. If the latter happens, Hellas will go to Paris… directly, without having to play in one of the four pre-Olympic tournaments.

The tickets for the pre-Olympic tournament

A total of 24 teams will participate in the four pre-Olympic tournaments that will decide the last tickets. The five are already known from the qualifiers that took place in the summer for those teams that did not go to the World Cup: Poland, Croatia, Bahamas, Bahrain and Cameroon.

The remaining 19 will result from the World Cup, and are as follows:

1. The best country in the Americas that did NOT get one of the above direct tickets to the Olympics.

2. The best country in Africa that did NOT get one of the above direct tickets to the Olympics.

3. The best country in Asia AND Oceania that did NOT get one of the above direct tickets to the Olympics.

4. The 16 countries with the best ranking in the event, except those that qualified directly or fall into the above three categories.

We understand, therefore, that the Hellas they will definitely be at least in the pre-Olympic tournaments, since whatever happens now, they are among the top 16 teams in the rankings. The remaining 15 teams that secured at least the pre-Olympic qualification are as follows: Dominican Republic, Italy, Serbia, Puerto Rico, USA, Lithuania, Montenegro, Germany, Slovenia, Georgia, Spain, Brazil, Canada, Latvia.
