The… upset happened in the first group rematch for the Playoffs on Thursday (8/31).
On the one hand, Aris Limassol, which he disbanded 6-2 in Cyprus Slovan, overturned it to the detriment of 2-1 and entered the groups of the second-ranked European interclub football competition for the first time in its history! Great protagonist for the team of Alexei Spilefksi, the top scorer Gomiswho succeeded hat trick (21′, 45’+7′, 51′). In between, they also scored Joke (24′), Bayabella (67′) and Brown (72′), while for the visitors – for whom O Kyriakos Savvidis– found nets Strelets (37′) and Barseyan (89′).
At the same time, Dinamo suffered a heavy defeat (4-1) in Prague from Sparta, as a result of which he could not defend the 3-1 defeat of Croatia and was “relegated” to the Europa Conference League.
Without them Livakovic, Ivanusech and Soutalo -who left with a transfer after the exclusion from AEK- now the Croats, on whose bench Sergey Yakirovich has replaced Igor Bischan.
Two quick goals from Haraslin (2′) and Sorensen (24′) leveled the first-leg scoreline for the hosts, with Panak giving them the lead in the 67th minute. Baturina was temporarily reduced in the 71st minute, however in the final (87th minute) Sparta Prague struck again with Olatouni and got the important qualification.
