In front of the eyes of his new teammates, but also members of the coaching staff, Mr Sasha Vezenkov was also officially presented by Kings. Present at the press conference of his former player Olympiakou were, among others, De’Aaron Fox and Keegan Murrayas well as his coach in the “kings”, Mike Brown and his assistant Alvin Gentry.
The floor was initially taken by the general manager of the Kings, Monty McNairwho praised the MVP of this year’s Euroleague: “Watching Sasha over the years I have found that he is a great shooter, has size and a lot of IQ. He is a winning player. He has a lot of success already in his career and we are excited for him to bring that to the NBA».
Then, it was his turn Vezenkov to speak, saying first: “I would not like to say much, because I want to show more on the floor. I didn’t expect to see every member of the Kings come to watch me in Greece and that played an important role in making my decision to come to the Kings. All team members have shown me love and respect. I see it as a great opportunity. That’s why I came here. I believe I can help the team“, initially said the 28-year-old, who will wear “7” in the back.
Then, after a related question, he referred to himself, but also to what he knows about the team: “I like to improve day by day. I know my strengths and weaknesses, but I want to improve all around every day. I like hard work. Before I came, I also did my scouting for the team. Outstanding coaches and award winning players. For me, the most important thing is that the team has kept a core core and is pretty much the same. So, I will have to adapt quickly and give my best».
Later, he was asked if the NBA champions are rightly called world champions: “Everyone has their own opinion, but let’s be realistic. If the NBA champion plays in the Euroleague, what will be the result?».
From here on, the Bulgarian forward made a revelation about his past and how close he came to moving to the US. After being asked about his excellent English, the former Olympiakos player mentioned that he was attending an American school and then revealed that he was a “breath away” from signing at the university Xavier (s.s. is in Ohio), but at the last minute decided to continue playing professional basketball.
