The European Team Table Tennis Championships will be held in Malmö, Sweden, 10-17 of the month. The men’s national team consists of: Panagiotis Gionis, Yiannis Sgouropoulos, Giorgos Stamatouros and Konstantinos Angelakis, who, in fact, will do the final stage of their preparation in Brodby, Denmark in an international camp.
The corresponding women’s band is made up of: Katerina Toliou, Malamatenia Papadimitriou, Konstantina Paridis and Ioanna Gerasimatou. The national federal coaches Kostas Vatsaklis of the men and Giorgos Karytsas of the women will be on the benches.
Earlier in the month, Karytsas will be at the Balkan Championships in Bulgaria these days, where two gymnasts, who he has also selected for the European Championships, Papadimitriou and Gerasimatou, are participating.
Vatsaklis will be in charge of the mission in Brodby, where the National team was invited to take part in the training camp from September 4 to 9 together with athletes from Denmark and other countries. Our internationals will transfer to Malmö directly from Copenhagen.
The first phase of the European Championship includes groups. The men’s national team has been drawn in the fourth group and will meet Portugal (leader) and Hungary.
The women’s team was placed in the eighth group and will face the “host” Sweden (leader) and Spain.
Both national teams had secured a place among the 24 teams in the final stage at qualifying stage 2 in early May in Croatia.
