Band decided to postpone the debut of Rede 21 Sports, its new open TV sports channel, by one week due to technical problems. The forecast was that the channel would begin its trajectory next Monday (4). Now, he will only officially start his schedule from the next 11th.
As a preview for viewers, Rede 21 broadcast this Saturday (2) a Saudi Championship game between Al-Fateh and Al Ahli. The narration was by Oliveira Andrade. In addition to the Saudi, as it is known, Rede 21 will broadcast MMA events on its schedule. Other events are being sought.
With Rede 21 Sports premiered by Band, Brazilian open TV once again has a 24-hour sports channel for the public. The schedule is already defined.
The last venture in this direction happened with Esporte Interativo, closed in 2018 by Warner Bros Discovery. Rede 21’s programming will mix attractions already made by Grupo Bandeirantes radio stations, unpublished programs and productions made for Band’s digital platforms.
Altogether, Rede 21 has terrestrial coverage in Greater São Paulo, cities in the interior of São Paulo and Salvador (BA). The programming will also be available on satellite dishes. About 21 million viewers can be reached.
Descarga Elétrica will be presented by Fernando Fernandes on Monday nights at 9 pm. On Tuesday, at the same time, Paloma Tocci will lead Tem Mulher na Área, a round table with journalists only.
On Wednesday, also in prime time, Fred Sabino, transmission coordinator for Formula 1, will present Nitro, with information about motorsport.
On Thursday, it’s Lívia Nepomuceno’s turn to lead Show de Bola, with a summary of the week’s football round. On Friday nights, Arena UFC will air, with Mirelle Moschella in command.
The main news program on Rede 21 will be 21 Minutes. With a presentation by Alline Fanelli, the sports newspaper will air in two editions: at 10:30 am and at 10:30 pm. To occupy the programming, Rede 21 will reprise the sports programs of the parent channel.
Among them are Jogo Aberto with Renata Fan; Os Donos da Bola e Apito Final, by Neto; Band Esporte Clube with Kalinka Schutel; and Total Sport with Fernando Fernandes.
From the radio, the program Esporte em Debate, a classic on Rádio Bandeirantes at 7:30 pm with João Paulo Capellanes, Ricardo Capriotti and Alexandre Praetzel, will gain space on open TV. On Friday nights, at 11 pm, BandNews na Área, led by Leandro Quesada, will be broadcast on BandNews FM radio.
Coming from digital, the Online program will be led by newcomers Vinícius Batista and Gabriela Santos, daily at 4 pm. Band also tries to sell a program that will provide information on sports betting, Bet21. He still does not have a schedule, nor a presenter defined in the schedule.
The new Rede 21 has been run by Denis Gavazzi, sports director at Band. Founded in 1996 as an open channel for journalism and entertainment, it spent ten years on the air in this line. In 2006, it became PlayTV and bet on the geek audience.
Since 2008, the channel has been leased to churches such as Universal do Reino de Deus, which left last year after disagreements with Band’s management regarding rental values.
