Soccer player Antony, 23, spoke for the first time after being dropped from the Brazilian national team due to accusations of domestic violence made by his ex-girlfriend, DJ and influencer Gabriela Cavallin, 22. To Fofocalizando (SBT), he denied having assaulted Gabriela physically, said that the two lived in a “very turbulent relationship” and claimed that the prints of messages presented by her were altered.
Antony contested photos and audios presented by the prosecution and released by UOL on Monday (4). He said that the ex-girlfriend would have taken his cell phone and sent messages to her own cell phone, as if it were Antony writing.
One of the prints attached by the prosecution to the investigation shows the striker irritated that she liked photos on social networks of Neymar with his friend Gil Cebola. “Look, there was a time when she took my cell phone and sent a message talking about it. As if it were me”, said Antony about the content. “Also because I have a very good relationship with Neymar.”
The player also claimed changes in the prints presented by the ex-girlfriend. “She sends a message and deletes a sentence I sent, she just leaves a word there that I wrote,” she said. “She manipulated the messages and I have proof of all of that.” Antony said that his legal team will present a technical opinion to the Justice that proves the alterations.
The attacker did not deny being jealous of Gabriela and said that there was an exchange of curses. “She was often aggressive with me. She cursed me. And as I said, on both sides. She offended me and I offended her too. which, of course, is not right,” he said.
He confirmed saying “I hope you die” in one of the conversations, but denied any episodes of physical violence. The attacker countered the accusation of having headbutted her during a fight: “she got upset, broke a glass, broke a plate, came at me. At that moment, I held her. headbutt her.”
Antony denied having punched Gabriela’s breasts, which, according to her, would have caused the silicone prosthesis to turn. The player contested the statement saying that, since 2020, Gabriela already had a diagnosis of rotation of the prosthesis.
He also said that he never threw a glass in his ex-girlfriend’s face. “She was drinking heavily and I asked her to stop drinking,” she reported. Antony claimed to have tried to take the cup from her hand, which would have caused a bruise on the finger whose photo was attached to the inquiry.
The player said that domestic violence is something “100% wrong”. “I have a mother, I have a sister and I would never want this done to them,” he said.
Antony cried in just one moment of the interview: when talking about his professional future. He said he doesn’t think his football career is over. “I came from nothing, I went through a lot of difficulties and I’m living one of the hardest moments of my life, being accused of something I didn’t do.”
Manchester United, the team for which he plays in England, said this Wednesday (6th), in a statement, that it takes the investigation into the Brazilian “very seriously”.
Gabriela Cavallin’s defense, in a statement, said that “it trusts the serious and competent investigation of the Civil Police of São Paulo, and equally of the police of Manchester, in the United Kingdom, and hopes that, as soon as it is concluded, the aggressor will be prosecuted and punished for the crimes he committed.”
