The list of clubs that have spent the most funds during the 21st century was published on its X (formerly Twitter) account by the page “Transfer Daily News”, with Chelsea to have priority.
The London team got the upper hand financially (and competitively) after its acquisition by Roman Abramovich in 2003, while after the transfer of the group’s shares to his joint venture Todd Boeley in 2022 he started spending lavishly on new players again.
Overall, the “blues” have taken out of their coffers 3.47 billion euros for transfers within the current millennium. The second place is occupied by Manchester City with 2.73 billion euros.
