In surgery to remove benign tumors the Olympic swimming champion submitted from her ovary, Ariane Titmus, as she revealed in a post on Instagram. He even explained that these tumors were discovered by chance after an MRI he did for an unrelated reason (hip discomfort).
“Of course, in such moments your mind goes to the worst possible scenario. I was terrified at the idea that I might lose one of my ovaries or that there might be complications that would affect my desire to have children someday. Still, I was one of the lucky ones” said the Australian swimmer, who will need to rest for a few weeks before returning to her preparations for the Paris Olympics.
Titmus won gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics, and last July she set a world record in the second distance in the Fukuoka World Championships final. Her battle with American superstar Katie Ledecky, as well as young Canadian Summer McIntosh, has turned the 400m freestyle into the most anticipated event in swimming at the 2024 Paris Games.
