Alexandros Skorilas was defeated 2-0 in sets by Alex Molchan in the first meeting between Greece and Slovakia for the Davis Cup. The Greek tennis player recognized the superiority of his opponent and emphasized that Alex Molchan’s experience played a role in the final result.
“There was no stress. It was a match like any other and the fact that I was playing with this player meant that I had to find solutions faster. He found them earlier than I did. The first set was decided on some breaks that I didn’t make and he made them. He was definitely more experienced, more grounded in the crucial points and played more expertly than me. I’ve played these points with other players and I’ve played them better, so I felt like I was on the other side. I didn’t have time to impose my game, but we continue”, said the Greek tennis player and continued:
“What happened today is over, I have erased it from my mind. I adjust the tactic for a different player. I’ll just save some things that need improvement for tomorrow. I will put them in my mind and work on a better plan.”
Finally, Alexandros reflected on the atmosphere in Kallimarmaro. “Thank you very much to the people. He was trying to help every point, even when the score was 4-1, 5-1. He was there at every point and I appreciate that, it’s very important for us.”
