Paris Saint-Germain suffered their first defeat in this year’s Ligue 1 on Friday night (15/9), losing 3-2 to Nice in the Parc des Princes.
After the match, the champions’ coach Luis Enrique first praised Nice, before saying that despite the defeat, he is more pleased with his players than he was after the win over Lyon.
Finally, he spoke about Mbappe, emphasizing that his team does not fully depend on him, since he has many and quality options for his offensive line.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game, especially because of the level and ideas that Nis puts into her game. They were cooler than us. Some things went well for us, but it wasn’t enough. I want to congratulate Nice and its players for their performance and the quality of their football.
Nice had more chances than us, more counter-attacks, were more efficient and that’s how their victory came. However, I am happier after this defeat than I was after the win against Lyon, because against Nice my players fought until the end despite many difficulties. Obviously losing hurts, but we all have to move on. I liked the attitude we showed.
I don’t think we are completely dependent on Mbappe. I really like our offensive line. Mbappe will keep scoring, it’s in his DNA. But the others will also score”.
