A fatal mistake cost him George Russell the possibility to get the victory in Singapore Grand Prix, as he lost control of his car and ended up out of the race on the last lap. Her pilot Mercedes he appeared almost in tears immediately after the race, after missing out on a golden opportunity for a victory, even a place on the podium.
“I let myself and the whole team down. Apologize. I have no words. I think we were half a car away from the win. If I could pass Lando Norris, I’m sure I could pass Carlos Sainz. Unfortunately I missed this opportunity“, Russell pointed out. “I made a mistake by a centimeter or two in the last lap and hit the wall. It’s a mistake that has overshadowed my entire weekend. Up until that point, it had been a fantastic race weekend. The car was great and the team had done an incredible job. Our strategy was excellent and we were bold and aggressive. It was exciting out there and it’s disappointing to be standing here with zero points. I will probably feel bad for several days. But I’ll put it behind me and come back stronger next weekend in Japan“, he added.
“It’s heartbreaking to be standing here with no points”
