“Inflexible” Zalgiris… they knew Red Star

After another “thriller” in Cyprus, the Zalgiris walked away victorious, prevailing 85-84 of Red Star.

The hero of the Lithuanians was Lekaviciuswho with his own basket and foul at 16” before the end, formed the final score, after Dos Santos missed a triple on the exhale.

In the meantime, the “red and white” managed to come back from -15 (69-54) in the 28th minute, keeping the victory in their hands at the end.

Leader of Zalgiris o Ulanova with 16 points, while a double-double was done by Biroutis with 11 p. and 12 rebounds.

From the Red Star, they stood out Giedraitis and Toby with 19 p. and 18p. respectively.

The match

A better start from Red Star, who took an early lead, reaching +11 (7-18) and ending the first period at +7 (14-21). With forwards Ulanovas and Lekavicius, Zalgiris reacted in the second quarter, balancing the match (30-31), in the 15th minute. From that point on, the two teams were together, with the Lithuanians going to the locker room with +4 (41-37).

Zalgiris was in complete control of the match for most of the third period, as they not only kept the lead, but even reached +15 (69-54), at 28′. However, in the last two minutes, the Serbs pulled out defenses, closing the quarter with an 8-0 run (69-62).

The “red and white” continued at the same rate in the fourth period, with

“hot” Giedraitis and Tobi to give them the lead again (73-75), at 35′. Then, Nedovic entered the equation for +4 (78-82), in the 37th minute. The Lithuanians did not give up and with a basket and a foul by Lekavicius they went ahead (84-85), 16” before the end. In the last attack, Dos Santos missed a three-pointer and Zalgiris got the win.
