Historic Newcastle, leveled 8-0 against Sheffield United and eight different scorers!

by

These things don’t happen! Because, it’s not just that incredible 8-0 of Newcastle at the headquarters of Sheffield United, it is also that for the “magpies” they scored eight different football players! A historic night if nothing else for the team from the North of England, who burst out and something more on the field of “Bramall Lane” and after the forced victory of the last game against Brentford and tonight’s… eightball, he is slowly building a streak.

We remind you, Newcastle had a bad start to the season, as, after the “five” of the premier against Aston Villa, they three straight losses. In Sheffield, however, on Sunday night (24/09) he showed that… he is coming, “catching”, now, Manchester United with nine points in 8th place.

History was made, in fact, as it is Newcastle’s biggest away win in all competitions! The most recent being a 7-0 thrashing of Morecambe in 2020 in the League Cup, while at top-flight level their biggest away from home was a 6-1 thrashing of hated rivals Sunderland in December not too long ago. 1955! In the Premier League their biggest away wins were a… simple 5-1 against West Ham (05/04/2023) and Coventry (19/09/1998)!

Overall, home and away in all competitions, the 8-0 win over Sheffield United is the second biggest win in Newcastle’s history, but in… tie with another “eight”! And here’s the amazing thing: Newcastle had dropped eight goals (8-0) at ”St James’ Park” on September 19, 1999 to the hated compatriots of Sheffield United, Wednesday, who were then competing in the Premier League!

Newcastle, then, flashed and thundered in Sheffield with eight goals and eight different scorers, something that has never been done before in the Premier League! THE Eddie Howie saw his players to “embroider” on the grass, with Sheffield simply watching. Longstaff in 21′, Byrne in 31′, Boatman in 35′, Wilson in 56′, Gordon in 61′, Almiron in 68′, Guimaraes in 71′ and Isaac in 87′ scored the eight goals and made history!

See here the highlights.
