In addition, he requested that the candidate Mayors and Regional Governors publicly position themselves on the matter before the October 8 election and at the same time their cooperation for the team’s return to its base.

Jim Antonaka’s statement in detail:
“The time has come for the return of the Aeolian to its base and the creation of the appropriate infrastructure, so that Mytilini can now adapt to the demands of professional football.
On the occasion and at the prompting of the Aeoliko Mytilini Fans’ Association through official announcements, as well as public positions of bodies, regarding the discussion that has recently opened in the local community about the necessity of returning the team’s training base to Mytilini, I wish to clarify the following:
The intention of both Erasitechnis Aeolikos from last year, and of PAE Aeolikos this year, was and remains the training base of our teams to be located in Mytilini.
In order for this to happen again, the municipal authority’s oral and written commitments to us regarding the following must be respected:
– Grant of exclusive use of the “Georgios Skoufos” Stadium for at least 1 year, replacement of the existing container and installation of another container for the needs of the team
– Concession of exclusive use of the Agia Marina Stadium for at least 1 year and repositioning of electricity pylons, as promised to the President of Amateur Windmill – in two different meetings before the delivery of the stadium by the contractor – on the one hand the current mayor of Mytilene, Mr. Stratis Kytelis, on the other hand President of NPDD Mr. Panagiotis Pittos and the members of the Board
– Immediate transfer of the services hosted inside the press room at the Mytilene Stadium and granting of the two offices to Erasitechnis Aioliko, based on the requests that have been recorded for three months in the Municipality of Mytilene and NPDD Sports and Culture, as well as the response letter of the Mayor of Mytilene with no. Prot.: G.D/Φ002.08/31883 (13.09.2023). It is recalled that according to the recent categorization of the Stadium, its organizational chart and operational planning, these offices are intended for the coach and the general service of the home team.
– Transfer of services and provision of the container located within the dressing room area of ​​the Mytilene Stadium, to which only accredited persons are allowed access during match days, which for the Super League 2 championship are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Wednesday.
As long as these outstanding issues are settled by the municipal authority, officially and in writing, and all the necessary conditions are now met, then as President of the temporary management committee, shareholder of PAE Aiolikos, and also President of Amateur, I commit that the team will return the coaching of its base in Mytilene within 60 days.
Acknowledging that in the coming days particularly critical decisions will be made for the next five years of our country, I call on the candidates for Mayor of Mytilini to position themselves before the election process on October 8, taking a public position regarding the necessary conditions that I set as president, in order to satisfy the expressed desire of the football fan community of Mytilene, but also the timeless intention of both the management of Erasitechnis and the PAE. That is, for Aeolian to return to his base, Mytilene.
I also ask for the public positioning of the candidate Regional Governors of the North Aegean, as well as their cooperation for the immediate return of the team to Mytilini. Aeolikos, moreover, represents and advertises the entire North Aegean in every corner of Greece and abroad.
However, because times are wicked, as Aeolik we demand resounding commitments from those who aspire to manage, with clear and honest solutions. Public relations on the field are no longer enough. Our team, after 37 years, is now competing in Super League 2. Let us all reflect on our responsibilities towards the most historic team of Mytilini. And most importantly, let’s finally realize the effect that high-level sports have on the local community, financially, morally, but also psychologically.
