Greece claims the Pre-Olympics – Very good chances to get it

by

THE Hellas testified candidacy for the 2024 Pre-Olympic Tournament. The relevant request has already been submitted to FIBA, while a complete file will also be submitted, with the chances of the organization being awarded to Greece being very good.

The SEF, the closed Ano Liosion and the OAKA are the most preferred stadiums to host the event, which will take place July 2-7, with Olympiakos’ headquarters being the most preferred, especially after the increase in its capacity.

THE EEC has drawn up a specific plan to cover the costs, which are between 2.5-3 million euros and he seems to have secured the funds for the proper organization of the tournament. The expenses will be covered by their own resources, sponsorships and with a small participation from the state.

H FIBA will choose in the coming months the four elite cities that will give away the last four tickets to the Olympic Games.

If Greece takes the tournament, it will significantly increase the chances of qualifying, but also of lining up with the most complete possible composition. It is recalled that the last participation of the National Basketball Team in the Olympic Games, in 2008 in Beijing, was secured through a Pre-Olympic Tournament held in OAKA.

After its completion Basketball World Cup and their qualification USA, Germany, Serbia and Canada in the “4” of the organization, the landscape was also clarified regarding the teams that will participate in the Pre-Olympic Tournament.

The above four countries secured their presence at the 2024 Olympic Games, while, given that both the host France, South Sudan from Africa, Japan from Asia and Australia from Oceania have checked the ticket for the Paris, there are still four places left to complete the puzzle of the twelve teams that will “attend” the Olympic Games.

These four tickets will be judged in an equal number of pre-Olympic tournaments, in which six teams will participate. Currently, these teams are: Poland, Croatia, Bahrain, Cameroon, Bahamas, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Spain, Georgia, Finland, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Lebanon, New Zealand, Philippines, Egypt, Angola, Ivory Coast.
