AEK is the winner in the … thriller of the Voula!

by

He made it a thriller, but in the end the spirited AEK celebrated!

The doubles of Greece prevailed 2-1 welcoming Atromitos to OPAP Arenaas part of the exciting (6th) round of the Stoiximan Super League, in a game with three goals from penaltieswhich became… a rodeo in the finale.

“Union” had their best first half, with their 1-0 advantage doing them an injustice based on their chances. Scorer in the 31st minute Amrabad (who left in the second half with forced change).

In the second half, however, the “two-headed” set pace, with Atromitos not only… believing it but also equalizing. After his goal was disallowed in the 78th minute Erlingmarkfor offsidethe visitors made it 1-1 at 89′ with his penalty Angelski! A phase that the Polish forward also won abortion of Sidibe.

And yet, the “yellow and black” arrived and took out stocks… doubles and, although with one less player, they found the goal at 95′! Penalty which, as in last year’s game between the two teams on the same field, was won by Latchby Gacinovic to score by execution a la Panenka.

Thus, AEK on the one hand broke the… pomegranate for this year on her home court, on the other hand she continued with victories in the championship, i.e. 4th and in -5 from Olympiakos and to -2 from PAOK (with less matches of both) and at -1 from Panathinaikos. On the other hand, the Peristeri team stayed to the two points and without a win (Panaitolikos and Volos are the other two teams that do not have “three points”).

In… the minds of the coaches:

With the classic 4-4-1-1 and with eight changes in relation to the derby with Panathinaikos a few days ago, he lined it up AEK The Matias Almeida. Stankovic was in goal, with Sidibe on the right end of the defense and Hadjisafi on the left. Mitoglou and Cullens (who had left with cramps in the game with the “greens”) were kept as a duo in the stoppers, while the counterpart in the central midfield was Jonsson and Mandalos. On the right of the midfield was Amrabad and on the left was Pizarro, who switched positions with Araujo who flanked Ponce in attack.

Several (six) changes and from him Chris Coleman in relation to the previous match with OFI. The Welsh coach lined him up Fearless with system 4-2-3-1 and Tsintotas under the rafters. The defensive quartet, from right to left, consisted of Keshrida, Acevedo, Tsakmakis and De Bock. Debut in the starting line-up for Kunde, who was selected along with Erlingmark as a midfield duo. In front of them in a free role was Jubitana, who had Kuen on his right, Robay on his left, with Vergo starting at the top of the attack.

The match:

Only in the 45” did AEK threaten, with Ponce catching a misdirected header from the height of the small area after a cross from Hadjisafi.

The “yellow and black” entered excellently, taking the initiative of the movements from the beginning and pressing up. Matias Almeida’s team was creating both of the ends with laterals, crosses and triangles, as well as by him axis. At the same time, they also threatened me static phases (with Cullens actively participating in them). Also, as expected, they were constantly changing their positions Pissarro and Araujowith the Argentinian ace being the top player of the “two-header” being the most important in trying to break down the opposition’s double zone defense.

In the 5′ Tsintotas blocked the foul shot that he caught outside the area Johnsonwhile at 13′ Araujo digged great at Ponce, who with a scissor turn lay on Amrabad, whose near miss went out. As soon as the phase was completed, the flag was raised. However, as replays showed, there was no offside.

“Union” persisted and created other opportunities, at 20′ with his head Callens after a corner and at 23′ with his shot Pissarro from a vantage point.

In the 25′ the home team they called for a penalty after an aerial claim of it Araujo by Keshrida. The right back of Atromitos found the ball with an outstretched hand, but Ioannis Papadopoulos – after consulting Tasos Papapetrou in VAR – decided that an offensive foul by the Argentine forward had preceded it.

To get to 29′when the “Union” finally won penalty kick: His foul shot Araujo outside the area hit the crossbar beam and before getting the “rebound” o LatchThe Tsakmakis he dropped him to the ground by elbowing him. Papadopoulos correctly pointed to the white arrow, with Amrabad to take over the execution and make it 1-0 they sent the ball almost to the center of the goal, with Tsintotas falling to the right.

As usual, AEK tried to take advantage of their momentum by looking for a second goal. Yes, from 37′ until the end of the half he created at least six chances!

In the 37th minute, his header Ponce from Sidibe’s cross went out. In the 41st minute, Tsintotas blocked his diagonal shot Poncewhile in the second, Amrabad took the “rebound”, broke between the penalty and a large area in the all-alone Sidibe, whose shot went… too high! In the 43rd Araujoafter a turn by Amrabad, did not manage to get a good header from the height of the second post, while subsequently neither the Ponce (45′), Pissarro (45’+3′) and Mitoglou (45’+4′).

Chris Coleman started the second half with Ender replacing Kuen. The guests presented themselves with more aggressive moods, threatening twice on the counter. In the 48′ The Callens put a catalytic “stop”, while at 59′ the newcomer’s shot Valencia went over the crossbar.

In between, at 51′Araujo crosses to Ponce, the Argentine forward fires in from a difficult angle inside the box, with Chitota clearing for a corner.

In the 60′ Matias Almeida freshened up the hosts by advancing to quadruple change (Gacsinovic instead of Pizarro, Eliasson instead of Amrabad, Zini instead of Ponce and Zuber instead of Araujo), with the change of Amrabad to be forced.

AEK made the moment with Eliasson in 71′however it was not as effective as in the first half.

And since he couldn’t find the 2-0, Atromitos would of course… believe it even more. In the 77′therefore, the Ender found space outside the AEK area and took the shot, with Stankovic to expel impressively in the corner!

On the… lids (78′) and destruction began, with his constant interventions VAR to be deemed necessary. After the execution of the corner, o Stankovic moved the ball unsteadily, o Valencia made the shot between the penalty and the large area, the goalkeeper of AEK saved again, with Erlingmarkto score from close range. However, the goal was disallowed for offside of Chakmaki. And this because, based on the lines, the latter was covered by him Sidibebut not by Stankovic (he must be covered by two players).

In the 89′ Atromitos won the penalty. THE Angelski came out in a tete-a-tete position, with Sidibe to knock him down. Papadopoulos showed a white arrow, but the second assistant, Nikolaos Savvas, raised the flag. Eventually, via VAR, it was determined that the Polish forward was being covered. So the French full-back was fouled and sent off, with Andrzejski beating Stankovic, who fell properly but couldn’t make the save.

AEK was now playing with ten players and had to find the goal in the same number of minutes given as extra time. And he found it!

In the 90’+1′ the thriller… took off, with Latch to win a penalty after marking Erlingmark. After the phase was examined and for a possible hand of Zini, this offense was also given, with the Gacinovic to take charge by scoring with execution a la Panenka!

And since at 90’+13′ Hadjisafi kicked the ball before the ball crossed the line after Andzielski’s header, the whistle blew to end this exciting match with AEK the winner.
