A very large event organized by the Municipality of Alexandroupoli, under the auspices of the World MMA Federation (GAMMA) and with the support of ELOP.
The entries have exceeded 200, while delegations from 16 countries have come to Greece and will compete for the world titles.
According to the schedule, the games will start on Friday at 9:00 am and will end on Saturday with the finals. The games will be held at the Alexandroupolis Indoor Gymnasium, while the opening ceremony will take place on Friday at 12:30, in the presence of the Mayor of Alexandroupolis, Yiannis Zamboukis.
At the press conference, the deputy mayor of Alexandroupolis for Sports, Theodoros Vourdolis, spoke about this great event. “It is particularly important for our Municipality to host an event of such scope. It is our goal and pursuit to be able to develop sports tourism and help develop sports in our city. We hope and are sure that we will justify the World MMA Federation Gamma for this choice to hold the event in our city. I invite everyone to watch the games.”
For his part, the president of GAMMA, Alex Engelhardt, praised the effort made by the Municipality of Alexandroupolis for the perfect organization, while he thanked the Hellenic Wrestling Federation for its support and for the development of amateur MMA in Greece.
“I am especially happy to be in Greece and we will hold a world championship. The goal is to have great fights and for the world to learn how beautiful a sport MMA is. The effort made by the Municipality of Alexandroupolis is enormous and really shows that it is a Municipality that can undertake large events. I would also like to thank the Hellenic Wrestling Federation for promoting amateur MMA in Greece.”
