Official: The changes to the regulations of the new Euroleague

by

H Euroleague formalized the four rule changes that will take effect from the new season, which begins this Thursday.

As we have already mentioned, coaches will be eligible from now on two challenges per matchbut they will have to claim the first within the first 38 minutes of the match or they will lose it.

To help speed up games, referees will now only be able to initiate a foul review in the last 2 minutes of a game or in the last 2 minutes of overtime. Coaches can continue to use the challenge to initiate a foul check at any time.

Still, referees will be able to check on instant replay two new cases of whistles: a) whether a player was fouled while attempting a shot and b) whether the timer needs to be reset when checking whether the ball touched the rim or not. In either case, a coach can use the challenge for these whistles. Referees may initiate such reviews only in the last 2 minutes of a game or in the last 2 minutes of overtime.

Also hereafter any player or staff member of a team leaves the bench during an on-field altercation but is not actively involved in the disturbance shall not be ejected. This assumes that the referees will be able to review the footage and confirm that the bench player was not involved in the altercation.

Finally, all the situations that require jamball will be held at the closest position to the one where the previous action took place, either at the free throw line or in the center of the court.
