He liked it and left promises for big things this year the renewed one Barcelona!
Thanks to an excellent attacking second half and led by Willie Hernangometh and pivotal in the last period the former NBAer, Jabari Parker, the Catalans prevailed with the impressive 91-74 of Anatolian Ephesus in “Palau Blaugrana”, thus entering the new Euroleague season with the right hand!
The leading scorer for the “Blaugrana” was none other than Willy, with the Spanish center finishing the match with 18 points and 3 rebounds, looking in excellent condition, in his first appearance in the Euroleague after 7 whole years! Veseli (16 points, 7 points), Laprovitola (13 points, 8 assists) and Parker (10 points, 3 points) followed closely.
For the Turks, Shane Larkin stood out with an amazing double-double with 16 points and 12 assists!
The match:
The start of the match was fairly even, with both teams going hand in hand in the score in the first quarter of the match, before the Effects with Yilmaz’s three-pointer and Zizic’s shot preceded with 13-9. Lakrin and Zizic maintained this small lead for the Turks, with the Barcelona to react to the end of the period and with baskets by Da Silva and Satoransky, close the quarter at +3 for 22-19.

In fact, the “Blaugrana” raised their performance even more at the beginning of the second period, and with Willy Hernangometh and Dario Brithuela at the… tip of the spear, they escaped at +9 (32-23 at 14′). Back-to-back 3-pointers from Larkin and Willis allowed Efes to close the gap, however, with six unanswered points by Vesely at the end, the Catalans went to the locker room with in their favor 40-34.
The best part of the match was undoubtedly the third period, where both teams were storming in scoring, with Barca scoring 29 points and Efes 30! At the beginning of the quarter, and with Larkin in a crazy executive and creative mood, the visitors turned the match around (45-46 at 23′). But Laprovitola and Hernangomet were there for the Catalans, “hitting” the weaknesses of the Turks for the 69-64 advantage of the period.

And where everyone believed that the match would lead to… a thriller, Roger Grimmow’s players had a different opinion! By Jabari Parker to catch fire in the final period by scoring all ten points in this quarter (!), Barcelona blew the gap over 15 points, thus reaching an easy pink match sheet with final 91-74!
The quarters: 22-19, 40-34, 69-64, 91-74.
