Antetokounmpo: ‘We haven’t won anything yet – I love Jrue like a brother’

With the start of this year’s NBA regular season just around the corner, the Milwaukee Bucks they are given as one of the big favorites to win the championship, then to win it Damian Lillard.

About this year’s “hot” summer of the Bucks, the radical changes in the bench and players, but also about Lillard and Jrue Holiday, he spoke to “Andscape” and Mark Spears John Antetokounmpo.

The “Greek Freak” emphasized, among other things, that the “deer” haven’t won anything yet, while he talked about Lillard’s “thirst” for winning the championship.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s statements in detail:

“We haven’t won anything. There will be a lot of expectations around us, but we haven’t done anything. We haven’t played a single game yet… So, we can talk about it all day, but at the end of the day, our actions speak louder than words. But we have an opportunity to do something great, and that’s exciting to me.

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson, those two are great. He was one of the greatest of all time. And the reason they are great is because they won. So if we want to be in the same conversation, then we have to win. So, right now, we’re not in that conversation.

It’s a blessing to have the opportunity to play alongside a man who is made of the same stuff as me. A guy who is a “killer” on the floor. We have an opportunity to do something great here. I’m excited for what the future holds, but we have to take it one step at a time.

It would be a really big thing to get another championship. Many don’t believe it. But as long as I persevere in my work, it will happen and eventually it will. Lillard wants the same. I can feel it from the way he talks to me, the way he trains… He really wants it. People who sacrifice everything in their lives to succeed succeed in the end. We’ve seen it, so it’s only a matter of time before it happens. This summer left us with a bitter taste with the elimination in the first round of the playoffs. But sometimes that’s a good thing because it makes you work harder. Last season was difficult for him and there were many changes with coach and players.

People only talk about basketball. But it’s not just basketball. It’s going to school and seeing Jrue Holiday there, dropping his kids off there and me dropping my kid off with him and talking about our lives and our kids. It’s bigger than basketball, obviously. With Jrue, I won a championship and that’s why I’m a champion now. And there were so many days that he would sit next to me and we would talk before the game and get ready to play a big match.

Our families were very close. Our children are very close. He was a guy with great and positive energy every time he came to practice or on the field. He had something about him that made you feel good about yourself when you were around him. I will definitely miss him. Again, I wish him the best in whatever he does. And you never know, we might be teammates again. I love him. I don’t love him as a basketball player. I love him like a brother.

I wish him and his wife and children and his family in general the best. They always took care of me and my family. They were always nice and kind to me. They gave everything they could not only for the Bucks organization, but for the city, the community. Again, I wish him the best in his next chapter with the Celtics, not against us. against all others.”
