Stoiximan Super League: Strong matches in the second part of the 8th matchday

by

After the victory of Lamia against PAS Ioanninathe program of the 8th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League continues in Agrinio and Thessaloniki, where Panaitolikos welcomes Volos and Aris hosts Panserraikos, after the developments that took place with the municipal stadium of Serres.

Panaitolikos-Volos

Until last year’s meeting in Agrinio, Volos had not managed to win an away match between them and counted two defeats and three draws in five matches.

The 3-2 victory for the Magnesia team came on 8 October 2022 in a match where Panaitolikos led 2-0 thanks to goals from Sengelia (4′) and Dago (16′), but with two goals from Tsokani ( 27′, 35′) and one by Koutsias (78′), Volos got the three points.

The answer came from the team of Agrinio in the second round of the championship, where they prevailed 3-2 in Volos and thus the two teams maintained a streak that wants them not to have won at home in the last five meetings between them. In these there are two draws, two victories of Panaitolikos and one victory of the Volos team.

The last time the home team prevailed was on April 10, 2021, when Volos won for the Super League Playouts, while for the regular duration of the league, Panaitolikos was the last to do so on March 7, 2021.

In the 2021-22 season the two teams had met twice in Agrinio, once for the regular season and once for the Stoiximan Playouts and in those two consecutive encounters no goals were scored and ended 0-0.

Out of the total of four draws between them in both seats, three are 0-0 and the other was 1-1 in the first match of their history in the Super League with Panaitolikos at home.

Ares-Panserraikos

Aris and Panserraikos met for the last time at Super League level on March 23, 2011 at “Kleanthis Vikelidis” in a match that the Yellows won 3-1.

That was the 24th meeting in their history with Aris, in a series of meetings that had started in the 1965-66 season with the first appearance of the Serres team in the big division. At that time they had drawn in both games, initially at the home of Panserraikos with 2-2 and in the Second Round in Thessaloniki 0-0.

Aris did not concede a goal in Panseraikos’ first four visits to their home ground and the goalless draw was followed by three clean sheets and a total of 12 consecutive home games until the 0-0 draw in 1980-81.

The most frequent score for the victories of Aris is 1-0 with five appearances, while in total there are six, since Panserraikos has also won once with this score. It follows 2-0 in four appearances, while two draws are 0-0.

Alekos Alexiadis, with six goals, is the top scorer of the matches with home team Aris, while Giorgos Zindros follows with five.

Panserraikos had not scored a victory at the home of Aris until November 25, 1990, when they prevailed with 1-0, while they managed to leave victorious in their very next visit to Thessaloniki with 2-0 on May 31, 1992. In total, they had three consecutive positive results, since before his two victories he had drawn 1-1 on May 27, 1990.
