Novak Djokovic will begin the 2024 season by participating in the United Cup, which will be held from December 29 to January 7 in Perth and Sydney. It is a mixed tournament of players from 18 countries and after the relevant draw that took place today (23/10), Serbia was drawn in the group with the Czech Republic and China.
The title holder is the USA team, which will be led by Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula, in the group with Australia and Great Britain.
As far as the Greek team is concerned, the presence of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkaris stands out, while in the premiere, in Sydney, they will face the Canadian team of Felix Ozer Aliasim and Leila Fernandez.
Among the faces that stand out in the tournament, is the 35-year-old German, Angelique Kerber, who is returning to the courts after the birth of her child.
Each team, consisting of three players, will compete in the group stage, specifically in the men’s and women’s singles, but also in the mixed doubles.
The group winners from each city will advance to the quarter-finals, along with the best runner-up. The semifinals and final will be held in Sydney and will have $15 million in prize money and ATP and WTA ranking points.
