Khosonov for the bronze medal at the U23 World Wrestling Championship

Azamat Khosonov, who competed at 125kg. of freestyle, made impressive performances at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Albania and on Tuesday will challenge for the bronze medal.

In the opening game, Khosonov prevailed with an impressive 9-0 thrashing of Georgia’s Solomon Manashvili to advance to the quarterfinals. There, he faced Giorgi Velev and with a new great performance he prevailed with technical superiority (12-1).

In the semi-final, he faced the American Hendrickson and, after an exciting final, he was defeated 4-2, so on Tuesday he will compete in the “mini” final.

Hosonov is waiting to find out his opponent, which will emerge from the repechage match between the independent athlete Kurbanov and the Moldovan Statulat.

At 92 kg, Givi Bliadze faced independent athlete Alan Bagaev, lost 8-4 and was eliminated.

At 86 kg, Angelos Kouklaris was defeated by technical superiority by the independent athlete Arslan Bagaev, who lost in the semi-finals and did not give the Greek champion a second chance.

At 74 kg, Christos Christoforidis faced the Turkish champion Ibrahim Yaprak and lost 7-1, so he could not continue in the tournament.

Finally, Theoharis Kouyoumtsidis enters the battle on Tuesday, who will face the Japanese Yoshinosuke Awagi.
