Europe Youth Loutraki: With two wins Greece 1 in U15 and Denmark in U13

by

The team at the Loutraki international junior table tennis tournament is held with mixed teams and in the single groups of the Under 13 and Under 15 categories, Denmark leads with 2 wins and Greece with 1 respectively.

There are four entries in the categories and the top two teams of the groups will play for the gold medal on Thursday at 16:30.

The Greek Open is organized by the Hellenic Federation with the support of ETTU at the “Sport Camp” sports center and will conclude next Saturday. It is the fourth in the first year of the institution and its start marks a special moment for EFOEPA, which is hosting for the first time, after the distant European Youth Championship of 1987, a European junior tournament. The participation in the games is small, but the importance of the effort is special.

There are five tables in total in the Sport Hall and on Wednesday four of them were used. The system for each team match in the groups includes nine individual matches. After the initial mixed doubles, the team match continues on two tables and each of the four children on the teams (two boys and two girls) play two individual games.

The points of each team correspond to the individual victories it achieves. For example, in a score of 7-2 the winning team gets 7 points and the losing team gets 2 points. The finals will be held with the same plan, however the winner will be the team that reaches the first five wins, so it is very likely that the next matches will not be needed.

The most important thing is that all the children have the opportunity for a good number of matches and they already started their effort in a very good mood.

In the children’s category, Greece 1 is very strong and has secured first place. The team with Yiannis Koutras, Yiannis Kioseloglou, Vasiliki Boulas, Alexandra Bithava scored two victories with 7-2 and already reached 14 points. It closes its matches against Georgia on Thursday and prepares for the final.

Greece 2, where Kostas Fakaros, Theofanis-Giorgos Mitkas, Stella Mavromataki and Angela Noure are competing, lost in the afternoon to the Greek “against” and in the late afternoon fought back in a balanced match 5-4 sets against Georgia. She has not lost her hopes for qualification, but she must definitely beat Denmark with a good score on Thursday.

In the standings, Greece 1 is at the top with 14 points, followed by Georgia with 9, Denmark with 7 and Greece 2 with 6 points.

Wednesday’s Under 13 results:

Greece 1 – Greece 2 7-2

Georgia – Denmark 4-5

Greece 1 – Denmark 7-2

Georgia – Greece 2 5-4

In the girls team (Under 13), Denmark ended the first day with victories with two Greek teams facing the Scandinavian country. On Wednesday morning, Denmark defeated Greece 2 to 7-2 sets and in the afternoon Greece 1 to 5-4 in a close match.

He leads with 12 points, he has essentially secured the top spot, however he will definitely be in the final.

The second place of the single group will be decided on Thursday with the civil war between Greece 1 (Konstantinos Alexoudis, Spyros Fousekis, Anna-Fanouria Mitkas, Sofia Fili) and Greece 2 (Dimitris Georgallidis, Nikos Angelidis, Despina Dimitriou, Aphrodite-Ioanna Sarikakis) ), which are equal to 10 points.

Greece 3 with Anastasios Fousekis, Konstantinos Isaakidis, Athanasia Goga, Elpida Tassiou is limited to fourth place with 4 points and definitely ends its effort in the third matchday.

Wednesday’s Under 13 results:

Denmark – Greece 2 7-2

Greece 1 – Greece 3 6-3

Denmark – Greece 1 5-4

Greece 2 – Greece 3: 8-1

For the technical guidance, let’s note that the Greek teams are helped by the coaches Christos Tsarsitalidis, Roula Lambrinidis, Manolis Alaroupi, Pavlos Telopoulos, Anita Khatsatrian, Michalis Angelidis and Costas Dimitrakopoulos.

Singles and doubles start on Friday.
