AEK: Annoyance at the way the battle was lost, belief in qualification but now… PAOK

by

The way she came defeat in Marseille (3-1) caused quite a stir in her ranks AEK. Not for the human error of (excellent so far in the season and yesterday until the fatal phase in the 59′) Cican Stankovic, which turned out to be decisive, but for the decisions by referee Stefanski and VAR Kwiatkowski which proved decisive. The “yellow and black” are rightly shouting about Vitinia’s offensive foul on Vida at 1-0, a phase for which the referee did not call anything and the VAR also turned a blind eye, as they both did in the penalty with which Veretout set up the final score in 69′.

Already the people of AEK formally expressed their complaints about the refereeing to UEFA, while – despite the bitterness and irritation – in the ranks of the team there is faith in qualifying for the Europa League or even as third in the group in the Conference League. After all, “Union” now has two matches at Opap Arena against Marseille (9/11, 22:00) and Brighton (30/11, 19:45) and with two positive results he will continue to hope until the last matchday and the game with Ajax in Amsterdam.

From today, all attention turns to Monday’s derby against PAOK (19:30) at the Opap Arena, where victory is imperative in order to stay close to the top. The problems again there are many, as Levia Garcia and Mijat Gacinovic are out of action, Araujo is extremely doubtful, while today the condition of Hadjisafi, who left with a rib injury, will be determined. The comforting thing is that for the domestic matches at least Cullens, Zini and Van Weert are available who are not on the UEFA list.
