Speaking on ERT television, the Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Kyriakos Pierrakakis emphasized that “The public university remains the flagship of university education in Greece and needs further strengthening and improvement to maximize its returns. However, we cannot continue to maintain in the country a global peculiarity, a state monopoly in Greek higher education”.

Kyriakos Pierrakakis continued by saying: “For this reason, we are proceeding with a legislative initiative that will immediately come to the Parliament, after first being presented to the cabinet before the end of the yearso that we can move quickly and manage to draw from the great potential that we have not exploited for so many years for various reasons”.

For digital remedial teaching, the “digital tutorial”Mr. Pierrakakis argued that it will start in February 2024 with two courses, Language and Mathematics, with a horizon for its full operation throughout the country to be placed in September 2024.

For substitute teachers clarified that the new system for recording needs and objective placements is in continuous configuration, so that at the beginning of the school year it constitutes a new conquest for the area and can respond directly to the needs that are created.

Referring to developments in SYRIZA he avoided characterizing them by maintaining a neutral attitude, but without refraining from the opportunity to emphasize that “rolling the dice in politics does not do much good”.

Mr. Pierrakakis interpreted the message of the self-governing elections as “another order from society to Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the government to accelerate and not brake, for reforms and changes everywhere and this is what the world will see in all fields of politics and certainly in education”.
