Leipzig cleaned up Cologne with… a six-ball!

by

The story of… a half-time was for Leipzig the victory against Cologne, with the final 5-0 for the 9th matchday of this year’s Bundesliga leaving no room for doubt!

The Red Bulls took an early lead with Werner’s well-timed penalty in the 13th minute, to follow Openda’s double strike – who scored twice for the second consecutive match – from as many assists from Simmons and an own goal in between from Svebe, for the 4-0 from… half time.

With Leipzig slowing down in the replay, but that didn’t stop them from scoring two more goals in the dying minutes… As the ‘Goats’ were down to ten men due to Olesen’s dismissal with a second yellow card in the 80th minute. The protagonist is Baumgartner, who had the assist on Sesko for 5-0, while his own goal made the final 6-0!

A result which lifted the Saxony team to fourth place in the standings, level with Borussia Dortmund on 20 points, while keeping Cologne second last.
