Dost: “I’m in good hands”

by

Reassuring statements were made by Bas Dostone day after his shocking moment in Alkmaar-Nijmegen.

The Dutch forward collapsed to the ground unconscious in convulsions. Fortunately, he later regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital. Today, therefore, he emphasized that he is in good hands, stressing that the tests will reveal what happened to him.

Dear colleagues, Nijmegen members and football fans,

First of all, I would like to thank my colleagues on the medical team and the doctors at Alkmaar, as well as the people at Northwest Hospital, who acted quickly and correctly. I would like to thank my teammates and the Alkmaar players who surrounded me with their warm shield.

I understand that support is coming from my home country, but also from other places, which moves me. The world of football is sometimes difficult, but now I noticed how we can become human. When I left the field I heard applause from everyone in the stadium, which made me happy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who sympathize with me and my family. We appreciate this support.

Now I am in communication with my teammates and the staff. I would like to tell them that I am fine under these circumstances and that I am in good hands. In the next few days, the tests will reveal what happened to me yesterday. For now it is important that I recover calmly and find a place for it with my family.

To the players and staff, I hope the team performance we achieved yesterday continues in the coming games. I would like to ask everyone in Nijmegen to stand by the team, yesterday was a difficult day for the players and the staff as well. Your support will be useful to them. I will hear from you again soon and would like to reiterate: Thanks for the support.

See you soon! Bass».
