Dabrauskas: “It’s a shame that OFI didn’t win the match in Serres – I have to improve, analyze better”

The negative results of OFI recently were mentioned by Valdas Dabrauskas.

The coach of Cretans, speaking to the team’s reporter, spoke about his team’s away performances, calling it a shame that they did not win the match against Panseraic in Serres.

The 46-year-old coach explained that he must improve himself and analyze things better, while also referring to the many absences that OFI will have in the upcoming home match against PAS Ioanninaon Saturday (11/11, 17:30).

In detail, Valdas Dabrauskas spoke about:

-upcoming game with PAS Ioannina: “A difficult game. Not because of the opponent, but mostly because of the situation we are in. When you don’t win and you go back home, your only goal is to get the win. I want to talk more about today’s training, the next training and after the match. I think we count the points too much and get frustrated when they don’t come. Obviously we don’t have many players for this particular game, which means that others will have a chance. Abada, Toral, Bakic, Glazer and Caro will be out. Five players who have played an important role this year. The situation is not easy and we have to find solutions and the way to win».

– the game against Panserraikos and what went wrong: “We can’t find any other excuses. This game happened, with this team on this field. Especially in the second half we dominated, we had the chances, yes we lost the ball in important moments and one of them led to a chance for Panseraikos. I think it was one of our better away games, even if you look at our performances from last season. You have to score, be cynical. But we have to see what happens with our concentration. OK, when you don’t score, don’t concede. We make some mistakes that are not acceptable. We really need to see what’s wrong».

– the changes in Serres: “When I make good changes, you come and say well done scored e.g. Abada, Mosquera and then it’s perfect. When that happens, I tell you that a change never goes well, never does it. The changes did come very late in Serres, but that was because I thought we were in control of the game. We made crosses, we had moments. We were playing with two strikers, we had good moments. I’m not happy with the result but sometimes even when we win I’m not happy with how the game is played. What’s really annoying is that when we have the lead, we don’t hold onto it in some games. We need to become more mature. Hopefully that will happen on Saturday».

-whether he is thinking of changing the system against PAS Ioannina due to the absences: “Against Kifissia we started with a system that we had not used either this year or last season. We saw how it worked, we got phases but we didn’t use them. In the game against Panserraikos we reacted very well in the second half, one team had the dominance, the players followed the plan. The one who plays the best doesn’t win, the one who scores wins and we have one goal in the last three games.

We need to become a little more responsible and deliver. Every player, every member of the team, gets frustrated. We grieve our brothers, our wives, our families. We go home and tell them we lost another game, and another game. We must be men and perform. We’re not a bad team but the scoreboard doesn’t lie, if you lose five games in a row something has to change. If you want to achieve something, you have to choose the path. There will be distractions everywhere. You have to find your way, you have to be bigger than these situations».

-the games against Atromitos, Lamia, Panaitolikos and Panserraikos in which OFI was better and did not win: “If I had found the solution after the Lamia game, we would have won the next three games. I need to improve, analyze better, understand better. At the moment I have not found the solution. It’s a bit of a shame that we didn’t get any points from the Serres game. It’s a bad moment and we concede a goal. Opponents don’t need big chances to score. When you win once, you have the feeling that you will win the next time too. When you win 2-3 times, you know you’re going to win the game when you step on the court. We have to find the victory that will be the beginning of the next victories».
