Monaco came within striking distance early in the third quarter, with Motejunas scoring 13 personal points and James scoring his first points of the game to cut the deficit to 50-53 for the home team. However, Efes continued to find solutions offensively with … forwards Beaubois, Larkin and Thompson, thus maintaining the margin in favor of safety (55-63), before Obradovic’s team reacted again, reducing for 66-69 in the third period .
The fourth and decisive quarter at “Gaston Medecin” began with ideal ball movement and a well-timed 3-pointer by Thompson for Efes, with Lloyd immediately answering for 70-72. However, Larkin and Beaubois had a big night offensively, putting Ephesus back up +6 (72-78) with back-to-back 3-pointers with 4:55 left in the final! They were down 80-83 and 82-85 entering the “final stretch” of the match, but Larkin declared himself “present” again by scoring with a very difficult basket for 82-87, 38” before the end, essentially giving away the victory in Ephesus!
