What the organized fans of the three biggest football teams of Attica and two more teams, which belong to a smaller category, have never achieved until now, was achieved by Athens Prosecutor’s Office!
As Mary Benea reveals in iEdiseisthe Criminal Prosecutor of Athens identified on the same day, in the same courtroom and on the same board, the trial of sixteen responsible football associations of Atticawho are on trial accused of maintaining Fan Club Offices, without a license.
The report notes: “Who would have expected that Justice itself would bring face to face the organized fans of teams, who traditionally they are rivals and enemieswhen, in fact, there is the recent precedent of the murder of Michalis Katsouris in New Philadelphia”.
And he emphasizes at another point: “According to the summons, with which the 16 members of the association are called to trial, it is very clear that they were arrested as part of the raids carried out by the sports prosecutors at the time, as the dates recorded in the court document are shortly after the murder of Alkis and specifically on 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17 and 28 February 2022.
Even worse and more dangerous is the fact that the specific trial, which is going to take place next month in the courts of Evelpidon, with defendants in the same bench the 16 heads of the football associations, has been determined to take place in smaller roomwhich the courts have, where their capacity is truly scandalous, for such a case.
What should be done?
According to legal circles, since the 16 accused were not all arrested together, nor did they commit any crime as a group, so that they are included in the same case file, they should – for security reasons – each defendant to have a separate trialon different dates.
According to information, lawyers defending the 16 defendants are preparing to submit a request to the President of the Three-member Administration of the Court of First Instance, Christoforos Lino, requesting a change of room with a larger capacity and enhanced security measures.
And the problem is not only the 16 defendants, the witnesses and the advocates, who will not even be able to stand upright inside the court.
The most dangerous thing is the possibility, which should be considered a certainty, that fans of the teams on trial will arrive in court that day, in support of the accused».
