THE Croatian Water Polo Federation announced the takeover of its organization European Water Polo Championship for Menwhich was supposed to take place in Netanya, but was moved due to the situation in Israel.
The tournament will take place on the originally scheduled dates viz 4-16 January 2024and will be hosted in two cities, the Zagreb and Dubrovnik. Each city will host two groups (yet to be determined) as well as play-off matches, with the finals for places 1-8 taking place in the Croatian capital and the qualification matches for places 9-16 in the Dalmatian coasts.
It is recalled that Croatia, specifically Split, had organized the 2022 and previous European Championships, both for men and women. Barring a shocking windfall – as there are still no official announcements from European Aquatics – this year’s women’s event will be held in Eindhoven.
January’s European Championships will award two tickets (one for men and one for women) to the Paris Olympics, as well as Europe’s final spots for the World Championships in February in Doha.
