Chido Obi-Martin: Who is the 15-year-old who scored 10 goals in Liverpool U16

Last Saturday (18/11) we not only had 14 so of France against Gibraltar. We had another, in England, in the U16 league, with Arsenal sweeping Liverpool away with the amazing 14-3.

Even more impressive, however, is the fact that 10 of the 14 goals were scored by one player: Chido Obi-Martinaround whose name there is, of course, a buzz in the last 24 hours.

So who is the kid that made us look for him in… Manager?

The 15-year-old has featured for many of Arsenal’s age groups this season, representing the club at both U21 and U19 level. Yes, he has one hat trick in an U18 match against Southampton.

Born in Glostrupin the western suburbs of Copenhagen, as a child Obi-Martin played for Copenhagen Boldklub, one of two clubs, which merged to form Copenhagen. They started their careers from the same team Michael Laudrup and Niklas Bedner.

His international future, however, is a bit complicated. He started in 2023, playing for England under-16s, although he could play for Nigeria through his father and for Denmark, which he also represented when he was even younger. In August, he scored four times in a 6-2 rout of Norway despite being the youngest member of the group of Denmark. THE Jesper Mikkelsencoach of this team, has said that despite seeing the world already from 188cm(!), Obi-Martin’s place in the game is not just a result of his physical advantage.
