A “stormy” Maccabi swept Alba 102-81 in Belgrade for the 11th game of the Euroleague and moved to a 6-5 record, leaving the Germans at 1-10 and firmly in the last place of the standings.
Oded Katas players reached +15 in the first half and +27 in the fourth period, reaching the final victory.
Leading the winners were Baldwin with 18, Colson with 17, Menko with 13 and Webb with 12 points and a total of 15/25 three-pointers. For the Germans, Prosida stood out with 22 and Tiemann, Bean with 11 points.
The match
Alba took an early lead, but Maccabi went on an 8-0 run with Colson’s 3-pointers to make it 12-5. Brown’s 3-pointer made it 17-9 and Menko’s two straight made it 24-12, with Brown ending the first quarter up 29-14.
Sorkin’s indirect 3-pointer made it 32-14 at the start of the second period, and the new “storm” of the “people’s team” made it 8-0 and 40-17. A 10-0 run by Maccabi at the start of the fourth quarter made it 91-66 with offensive versatility and Menko as the star and completed the “modest” ceremony” in the Serbian capital. Alba trailed 93-71 and the coaches started the changes, putting the subs on the floor, with Maccabi going on a 5-0 run for 98-71. Nikic cut to 98-74 and at 102-76 a 5-0 run by Alba wrapped up the match at 102-81.
