The latest in world and Greek table tennis rankings

by

In the last few days EFOEPA issued the tables for December and on Tuesday the ITTF did the same. For different reasons, there is interest in both cases.

In the world ranking list, our four champions, who took part in the third WTT Feeder 2023 in Dusseldorf, were evaluated for the current week: Yiannis Sgouropoulos, Malamatenia Papadimitriou, Dimitra-Thomais Tsekoura and Elisabeth Terpou. All of them had an improvement, even though they were eliminated in the qualifiers, the biggest one was for Sgouropoulos and Tsekouras who climbed 16 and 13 places respectively.

For the monthly tables of E.F.O.E.P.A. the matches of the interclub championships, as well as the open development championship of Patras, were calculated from November. There was also a change at the top and Anastasia Michalarou managed it in the mini pankorasides, winning one place over Elpida Tassiou.

In the new tables of the ITTF, the Greek internationals expected changes this week as well, as they again came from a rated event, like a while ago with the Feeder in Portugal. Sgouropoulos in Germany was eliminated in the third qualifying round. The table shows that he gained 3 points and moved to number 371 from last week’s 387 with a total of 20 points. The second Greek remains Konstantinos Angelakis (number 338) and the first is always Panagiotis Gionis (No. 196).

In the women’s ranking, Papadimitriou and Tsekoura, who were defeated in the second qualifier of the German Feeder, each got 2 points. Papadimitriou went one place higher (No. 380) with a total of 14 points and Tsekoura 13 places higher with a total of 12 points (No. 384).

Terpou, which had lost in the first qualifier in the same tournament, received only 1 point, but with 10 in total it appears at number 424 with a rise of 6 places. The first Greek woman is always Katerina Toliou at number 222.

We remind you that next week (12-17/12) the Italian Feeder takes place, the last of the year, and the Greek presence in men and women will be strong. Panagiotis Gionis, Konstantinos Angelakis, Giorgos Stamatouros, Yiannis Sgouropoulos, Giorgos Konstantinopoulos, Katerina Toliou, Malamatenia Papadimitriou and Elisavet Terpou are going to compete in the city of Biela.

THE MOST IMPORTANT CHANGES IN THE GREEK TABLES

The main ones are that Ioanna Gerasimatos came third among women, while Alexandros Alexopoulos won two places in teenagers and young men, Vasiliki Boulas among girls and Konstantinos Alexoudis among boys.
