Stamatelos: “Martins’ results and works speak for themselves”

by

Nikos Stamatelos commented on the news that Pedro Martins is the longest-serving player in the history of Olympiacos on BwinSPORT FM 94.6.

The Portuguese coach became the longest-serving coach in a continuous presence on the team’s bench today, as he surpassed Dusan Bajevic.

«Bajevic came in difficult years, when Olympiacos did not have championships, and the team played a nice ball. That 1-0 with Ajax in OAKA, was one of the best appearances I have watched at Olympiakos“, The team reporter initially stated.

«A coach would have surpassed him in presence, behavior and in everything, Ernesto Valverde. He also had his own issues. Greece was not its ceiling. Every coach’s ambitions are respected. If Valverde did not want to leave every two years, we may have seen him until now, as the saying goes. If Valverde wanted, he could stay until now“, He added.

Regarding the presence of Pedro Martins, he underlined: “Now for Martins, his results, his works and the answers he has given on the pitch, speak for themselves. Let’s not forget that when Olympiakos was eliminated in the Cup by Lamia, no matter how good football the team played, there could have been a lot of talk. Some said maybe Olympiakos should leave, lest they lose the championship. Something similar had happened with Valverde».

Regarding the case of Youssef El Arabi, he said: “Everything shows that we are heading towards an agreement between the two sides. We do not know the duration of the new contract. There is no detail that could spoil the apparent agreement. And the player wants to stay, and Olympiacos wants to keep him and it is a procedural issue».
