France’s friendly with Germany ahead of Euro 2024

by

The French Football Federation has announced that the “tricolors” will face Germany in a friendly match in Lyon, on Saturday, March 23. This will be the first warm-up match for Didier Deschamps’ side before the final stage of Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany.

The two teams last met in September when Germany ended a three-game losing streak by beating France 2-1 in Dortmund. In that game, Rudi Feller had temporarily taken over the technical leadership of “Nationale Mannschaft”, after the dismissal of Hansi Flick from the “Panzer” bench. Now the “reins” of the German national team have been taken over by Julian Nagelsmann, who, after starting his tenure with a win against the United States, saw his team emerge with a draw with Mexico (2-2) and a loss to Turkey ( 3-2) and Austria (2-0).

For its part, France won undefeated (7-1-0) the first place in the 2nd group of the qualifiers for EURO 2024, in which the Greek national team also participated, leaving the Netherlands in second place (6-0-2) . The “tricolors” have been drawn in the 4th group of EURO 2024, in the framework of which they will face Austria, the Netherlands and the winner of the 1st “path” of the playoffs. For its part, Germany will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in order in the 1st group.
