Stayed for 26 days in a coma after an accident he had while riding, but o Sergio Rico declares he is determined to return to the courts. The 30-year-old Spanish goalkeeper of Paris spoke for the first time about the nightmare that he went through in May, which thankfully left no residue, physically or mentally.
“I have absolutely no recollection of this accident and my 22 days in a coma, nor of the days when I was gradually brought out of the coma. When I woke up, I saw my wife and my mother beside me. My people were the ones who had the hardest time during this time, because I was unconscious. I lost 20 kilos. I weighed 92kg before the accident and went down to 73. Now I’m back to 88“, he emphasized.
“I can’t wait for the doctors to clear me to do more activities, because I feel good. I want to get back into my routine and feel like playing football again. I deal with it calmly, because it is not in my hands. If it was I would be playing already but I have to follow the doctors orders because they saved my life“, he added.
