Apocalyptic Enes Canter! The Turkish basketball player and former NBAer is in Greece, as part of a basketball camp that brings together children from Greece and Turkey.
Kanter, in his statements to the television station OPEN, spoke about the specific event, while he made a special reference to his absence from the parquets, the cause of which is the his public placements.
Among other things, 31-year-old forwardrevealed that if he decided to compete in Europe, he would only do so for Panathinaikos AKTOR and closed by sending his wishes to the Greeks ahead of the holidays.
His statements in detail:
For his visit to Greece: “A basketball camp brings me here again. It is a very important job because it brings together kids from Greece and Turkey who will play basketball, have fun and focus on how to learn each other and communicate, playing mixed in the same teams to learn to win together”.
On whether he misses basketball: “Of course I miss basketball. I love basketball, I love to compete, I love to be with my teammates. I love traveling with my team. But the things I’m doing right now are bigger. There are many problems in the world that I go out and speak about publicly. So I know in my heart I miss basketball but what I do is more important than the NBA. Everyone knows that I’m good enough to play in the NBA, everyone knows that I’m still young, that I’m staying in shape, that I’m still working out… And that the only reason I’m not in the NBA is because of what I say publicly.”
On whether he will come to play in Europe and for Panathinaikos: “I would love to play in Europe. I like Euroleague. I’m watching a lot of my friends who are playing in the Euroleague right now. But after my proclamation by the Erdogan government, it is very difficult for me to stay in a country for more than a week. I’ve discussed it with the FBI and they don’t think I can stay in a foreign country for more than five days. This is also the reason why I think I will not play basketball in Europe. Every day I get a message from a Greek or a friend of Panathinaikos who says: “What are you waiting for? Come to Greece and play for Panathinaikos”. I have had such a discussion with the American authorities… Everyone knows which team I have in my heart, if there was a team I would come to play basketball in Europe it would be Panathinaikos”.
His wishes for the Greeks ahead of the holidays: “I want to say happy birthday to all Greeks and especially to the friends of Panathinaikos who I have in my heart. Have a great new year. Stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see you at one of my fights someday.”
